■PROFILE　

1972年長野県生まれ。1995年東京理科大学理工学部建築学科卒業（卒業設計最優秀賞）。1997年同大学大学院修士課程修了後、大手ゼネコン入社。2001年カーサブルータスの建築家特集「注目の若手建築家世界の10人+日本の10人」に取り上げられる。2009年には日経アーキテクチュア誌の「注目の10人」の一人として、2012年には建築学生のハローワーク（彰国社）にて「伝説のコンペキラー」として掲載される。また2015年には東京新宿歌舞伎町中心部の再開発プロジェクトである新宿東宝ビル（TOHOシネマズ新宿・ホテルグレイスリー新宿他）にて、屋上に原寸大のゴジラを登場させる斬新な設計手法が話題となる。2011〜17年東京理科大学非常勤講師。2017年エムアールスタジオ株式会社一級建築士事務所設立。現在は同社代表取締役としてデザイン監修業務を中心に、オフィス・ホテル・商業・文化施設・住宅・工場・大規模複合建築設計まで幅広い領域で活動中。

主な受賞歴としてAIA International Design Awards・シカゴ・アテナイオン国際建築賞(International Architecture Awards）・Red Dot Design Award・ iF Design Award・Good Design Awards(Chicago Athenaeum presents)・A' Design Award（GOLD）・German Design Awards・日本建築学会作品選奨、日本サインデザイン大賞、BCS賞、日経ニューオフィス賞（経済産業大臣賞）等、400件を超える国内外のデザインアワードを受賞。現在、アメリカ建築賞（シカゴ・アテナイオン建築・デザイン博物館）、A'DESIGN AWARD & COMPETITION（イタリア）、4Future Awards（カナダ）等国際的に権威ある建築賞の審査員に就任し、世界的評価を際立たせている。

Born in Nagano, Japan in 1972. Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science in 1995, receiving the Best Graduation Design Award, and completed a Master’s degree at the same university in 1997. After joining a major Japanese general contractor, he was selected for Casa BRUTUS’s feature “10 Young Architects from the World + 10 from Japan” in 2001. He was later recognized as one of Nikkei Architecture’s “10 Architects to Watch” (2009) and introduced as the “Legendary Competition Killer” in Architecture Students’ Job Guide (Shokokusha, 2012). In 2015, his design for the Shinjuku Toho Building—a major redevelopment in central Kabukicho—gained wide attention for its bold concept featuring a life-sized Godzilla atop the building. He served as a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of Science from 2011 to 2017. In 2017, he founded MR STUDIO Co., Ltd., a first-class architectural design firm, and currently serves as its CEO. His practice spans offices, hotels, commercial and cultural facilities, housing, factories, and large-scale mixed-use developments, with a focus on design supervision and concept-driven architecture. His honors include the AIA International Design Awards, International Architecture Awards (Chicago Athenaeum), Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, Good Design Awards (Chicago Athenaeum), A’ Design Award (Gold), German Design Awards, Architectural Institute of Japan Selected Works, Japan Sign Design Award, BCS Award, and the Nikkei New Office Award (METI Minister’s Award), among others—totaling over 400 international and domestic design awards. He currently serves as a juror for internationally prestigious awards including the Chicago Athenaeum American Architecture Awards, A’ Design Award & Competition (Italy), and 4Future Awards (Canada), further reinforcing his global standing.
